Opinion: Chris Dodd update: He’s still stuck in neutral

Our skepticism notwithstanding about a bid by Hillary Clinton aides to undercut the findings of one just-released Iowa poll by spotlighting two others, the surveys achieved unanimity on this front: Chris Dodd probably doesn’t have to worry about the continuing demands of a presidential campaign for very much longer.

Dodd, as we’ve noted, has gone to great (some might say extreme) lengths to make headway in the heartland and stage a surprise in Iowa’s Jan. 3 caucuses. But if he’s made any progress, it’s not discernible yet.

Two of the recent surveys found him holding steady at 1% support among likely caucus-goers. The third -- offering a more precise figure, perhaps because a university conducted it -- put him at .6%.

Running ahead of him were both Dennis Kucinich (1.1%) and ‘refused to say’ (1.6%).
