The New York Yankees put pitcher Mike Witt on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore right elbow and recalled pitcher Jimmy Jones from their triple-A Columbus farm club.
Witt, obtained from the Angels in a trade for outfielder Dave Winfield, left Friday night’s game after facing six batters. He is 0-4 with a 2.98 ERA.
