Wilkerson Ends Big Week With Winning Homer
- Share via
Matt Wilkerson continued his hot hitting and clutch play Saturday by hitting a game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Santa Margarita to a 9-7 Serra League victory over visiting Servite.
The junior first baseman played spectacularly this past week, going eight for eight with three home runs and eight runs batted in. He also pitched the Eagles (7-4, 5-1) to a victory over Mater Dei this week.
Chris Malec doubled to open the seventh and the next batter, Wilkerson, was sent up to bunt. When the count went to 2-0, Wilkerson was given the green light and responded with a long foul. Two pitches later, he hit the ball over the right-field fence. It was his second home run of the game.
