No. 3 Fountain Valley 1, No. 10 El Modena 0 (8)--Natalie King pitched a no-hitter against the Vanguards, and had a one-hitter in a 6-0 quarterfinal win over University of San Diego.
Camarillo 3, No. 4 Pacifica 1 (10)--Casey Carter had a no-hitter through nine innings before losing via an international tiebreaker in a quarterfinal. Amy Mayrhofer’s shoestring catch with two outs in the bottom of the seventh saved Pacifica’s 3-2 first-round victory over El Toro.
Woodbridge 8, No. 7 Laguna Hills 7--Maritza Padilla had two RBIs as the Warriors outlasted Laguna Hills, which outhit Woodbridge, 15-7, but committed five errors.
Sonora 2, Capistrano Valley 1 (8)--Allison Lewis and Sarah Berokoff scored on a throwing error to home plate in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Raiders (13-4). Andee Lindgren (7-2) pitched a four-hitter.
In the Covina Charter Oak tournament:
No. 1 Mater Dei 3, Corona Santiago 0--Tia Bollinger pitched a three-hitter and struck out 15 as the Monarchs (20-0) won the championship. In the semifinals, Bollinger struck out 13 and Courtney Betley had a two-run single to defeat Charter Oak, 3-0. In nonleague softball:
Santa Margarita 4-1, Aliso Niguel 2-3--The Eagles (9-6) scored two eighth-inning runs to win the first game. Chezare Sievers had a two-run double and Amanda Samonte pitched a two-hitter for Aliso Niguel in the second game.
Western 3-1, Santa Ana Valley 1-7--Hilary Goden pitched a no-hitter in the opener for Western (8-4).
