Jury Convicts Man in Kidnapping of 3 at Mall

A man has been convicted of helping kidnap three people from a mall parking lot and holding them for ransom.
A San Diego County Superior Court jury Monday convicted Luis Martinez, 23, of ransom and extortion.
He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced.
During the trial, prosecutors said Martinez orchestrated the kidnapping of a man, a woman and the woman’s 2-year-old daughter from the parking lot of the College Grove Shopping Center on Nov. 14, 2001.
