Handgun Ownership

The coverage of recent events at the Van Nuys courthouse stresses that the shooting outside the building (Nov. 3) was not related to the Robert Blake murder trial inside the building. In my view, the two events are very closely related. Both events are instances where defenseless people were victimized by a person with a handgun. The evidence is growing in the scientific literature that handgun possession increases risk to the owner and his or her family.
