“Blind Justice,” a police drama debuting March 8, will be the first ABC series to be broadcast with video description for the visually impaired, the network announced.
Video description is a broadcast service providing a descriptive narrative woven into the soundtrack between character dialogue. It is activated via the SAP feature on modern televisions.
ABC has broadcast movies with video description but never a series. “Blind Justice” stars Ron Eldard as a detective blinded in a shootout. It was created by Steven Bochco, co-creator of the long-running police series “Hill Street Blues” and “NYPD Blue.”
