June Vote Set to Replace Jailed School Official

The Romoland School District will hold a special election to fill the seat vacated by Randy L. Hale, an inmate elected to the school board in November who resigned last week.
The district trustees voted 3 to 0 Wednesday night, with one member absent, to fill the seat on the five-member board during the June 6 gubernatorial primary. The move is expected to cost the district about $5,000. District residents can file for candidacy from Feb. 13 to March 10.
Hale finished third in the race for three school board seats despite being imprisoned for parole violations. His arrest record includes burglary, spousal abuse and methamphetamine possession.
