Royally ruined

UNTIL I read your May 24 article on Sofia Coppola’s new movie, “Marie Antoinette,” I was actually looking forward to seeing it [“Royal Lineage,” by Kenneth Turan, May 24]. Then you reported that she scored the film with contemporary rock music from bands like the Gang of Four, New Order, Bow Wow Wow, the Strokes and the Cure. That’s enough to put me off right there, especially after the “Moulin Rouge” remake already proved how badly modern-day pop music meshes with a historical setting.
