Pianist and conductor Ignat Solzhenitsyn, music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, will appear with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra March 17 and 18 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale and UCLA’s Royce Hall, respectively, replacing Jeffrey Kahane, who canceled those dates on the advice of his physician because of severe hypertension.
The new program will consist of Mozart’s Divertimento in D, K. 136, and Piano Concerto No. 27, as well as Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony.
Concertmaster Margaret Batjer will replace Kahane at the “Baroque Conversations” program Thursday at Zipper Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
