Jones obituary: The obituary of Arthur Jones, the inventor of Nautilus weightlifting machines, in the Sept. 1 California section stated that he was born in 1924. According to his family, he was born in 1926. The obituary also stated that the training system Jones created to go with his machines called for participants to complete three sets of eight to 12 repetitions at a given weight before advancing to a higher weight. In fact, Jones encouraged just one set of eight to 12 repetitions on each machine before advancing to a higher weight.
